Turkey's Bahçeşehir University (BAU) reportedly opened a blockchain center at Boston's Northeastern University (NEU) to provide information support on blockchain technology, Daily Sabah References on May 7.
In addition to informational support, the goal of the BAU–NEU Blockchain Laboratory is to apply for funds in the United States, the European Union and Turkey, thereby strengthening Turkey's presence in the blockchain market and attracting experts in the field.
Commenting on the partnership, BAU Board Chairman Enver Yücel said that he would also like to start blockchain-related master's and doctoral education programs in cooperation with the Turkish Exporters' Assembly. Bora Erdamar, director of BAU's BlockchainIST Center, added:
“[Blockchain] it will immediately change all sectors from logistics to commerce, from education to health, from energy to agriculture, where we need to keep our products and people's information in a secure environment.”
Blockchain technology has gained traction in the education space. Recently, two South Korean universities, Yonsei University and Pohang University of Science and Technology, teamed up to develop an entire Blockchain campus with its own cryptocurrency. As part of the initiative, a student-focused project aims to increase the everyday use of cryptocurrencies.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata and education platform TalentSpirit jointly started offering an advanced program in fintech and blockchain technology in February. The program is reportedly aimed at management and finance professionals with the aim of educating participants on the development of financial technology and its potential impact on the banking and financial ecosystem.
