The Lost Ramblers will perform at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, Main Lobby, 100 Shawnee Inn Drive, Shawnee-on-Delaware.
Formed in 1978, the bluegrass band consists of: John Updike, five-string banjo; Neil Morris, guitar; Jim Schaffer, bass; and David Husic, violin.
Since their inception, the Lost Ramblers have made music in the eastern mountains of Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, often wandering throughout the northeastern US. While the band specializes in bluegrass and old-time music, it also offers a mix of Celtic, jazz, polka, and even klezmer tunes.
Originally from Wooster, Ohio and living in Sciota, Updike met Morris. The two later formed The Lost Ramblers at a festival in Shade Gap.
Morris was born and raised in Nazareth, home of the Martin Guitar Company. After a stint in the Marine Corps in Vietnam, he returned to Nazareth, took up guitar and worked at the Martin factory. He became active in regional bluegrass association jam sessions and festivals and played in various bluegrass bands at the height of bluegrass' popularity in the early 1970s.
Schaffer is originally from Emmaus, while Husic came to Kunkletown by way of East Lansing, Michigan.
The Lost Ramblers have released three albums to date: a 1985 self-titled set, 1995's “Are We There Yet” and 2008's “Ramble On.”
The entrance is free. For information, call 570-424-4000 or visit shawneeinn.com.
