Joan Fitzgerald is Professor of Urban and Public Policy. It focuses on urban climate action and strategies for linking it to equity, economic growth and innovation. In her fourth book, Greennovation: Urban Leadership on Climate Change(Oxford Univ. Press, 2020), argues that most cities' climate strategies represent haphazard acts of green rather than comprehensive and aggressive action. It highlights leading cities in North America and Europe and offers strategies for cities to accelerate their action. He leads a team at the Dukakis Center conducting an assessment for the Boston Foundation's Boston Climate Progress Report. The report will assess Boston's progress on its climate action and resilience plans with a particular focus on equity. He is the co-author of a new book,Cities and the fight for climate justice.
