A former Northeast Regional School District superintendent who pleaded guilty to simple assault and making terroristic threats has lost his state teacher certification.
Shawn Minnich, 46, was arrested in December 2015 on charges of breaking into his estranged wife's home and assaulting her boyfriend.
The state's Professional Standards and Practices Commission suspended his teacher's certification in May 2016.
Initial charges against him included aggravated assault, a felony. In October 2017, he pleaded guilty to lesser charges: simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats.
In November 2017, the Ministry of Education filed a motion to revoke its certification.

Minnich spoke to the state's Professional Standards and Practices Commission on March 12, 2018. He pleaded no contest to the terroristic threats conviction, which the commission considers a crime involving moral turpitude.
“Instead, he argued that the Commission should look into the details of his conduct,” according to the committee.
However, the panel said that whether a crime involves moral turpitude rests solely on the elements of the crime and the facts on which the charges are based are not relevant.
The recall notice was approved on March 30.
In Pennsylvania, Minnich cannot work in any job that requires teacher certification and cannot work as a staff member at charter or cyber schools or as a staff member for a contracted education provider, according to the state.
The Department of Education sent the disciplinary information about Minnich to the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification Clearinghouse, a searchable database, according to department spokeswoman Nicole Reigelman.
The goal of this national database is to protect children by providing states and jurisdictions with access to discipline information.

At a court hearing in February 2018, Minnich told a judge that he was now licensed to sell life insurance and would be working at a financial services firm in Lancaster County.
Minnich declined to comment for this story.
