The Center for Emerging Markets (CEM) at Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business is a leading research hub on how local and foreign companies can leverage emerging markets for global good.
Founded in 2007 by Ravi Ramamurti, University Distinguished Professor of International Business and Strategy, CEM operates in three distinct areas, including a strong research program. important work to influence business professionals; and educational activities designed to prepare the next generation of business leaders.

Insights @ Center for Emerging Markets is a publication focused on cutting-edge insights and advice for global leaders on emerging markets. It is based on innovative research on emerging markets conducted by our faculty at Northeastern University and the wider academic community.
Our fourth issue, which explores the topic of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in emerging markets, was released in December 2023.
Its fifth issue Insights it is due for release in May 2024.
Srinivasan Family Awards for projects in emerging markets
The Center for Emerging Markets invites grant proposals from undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in full-time programs at Northeastern University to create a startup, participate in a service-learning project, present or publish research, organize a conference, or pursue another innovative project that addresses pressing problems in one or more emerging markets around the world in a new and/or innovative way.
CEM accepts applications on a rolling basis each semester. Students can submit applications for the Spring award cycle from February 19 – April 5, 2024. Decisions will be made in mid-April.

About our Director
Ravi Ramamurti, University Distinguished Professor and founding director of the Center for Emerging Markets, has published eight books on strategy and innovation in emerging markets and several award-winning articles on these topics. He was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB) in 2008 and currently serves as Associate Dean of AIB Fellows.
