Building on the power of diversity
The D'Amore-McKim School of Business community stands with our university and its leadership in our commitment to fostering equality and inclusion for all humanity. Understanding and solving our problems requires constant interaction between people who bring their own different contexts and experiences to the discussion. Therefore, we must be a diverse, fair and inclusive community that values the uniqueness of its members, recognizes the strength and importance of diversity in our own and surrounding communities, and ensures their inclusion.
Northeastern's new academic plan, Experience released, focuses strongly on the ways in which we can harness the power of diversity. D'Amore-McKim's vision and mission align strongly with this future plan.

D'Amore-McKim Integration Leader
Associate Professor of Management and Organizational Development Marla Baskerville currently serves as D'Amore-McKim's inclusion leader. In this role, he reports directly to the Dean and advises the college's leadership team on issues of diversity, inclusion and participation. It places particular emphasis on faculty issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, and interactions with students and staff. He is also an active and dedicated spokesperson for D'Amore-McKim's diversity, inclusion and outreach efforts at the college and university level.
Marla is an award-winning teacher whose research and teaching interests include diversity, inclusion and belonging, and brings significant passion and expertise to this new role.
Office of Student Engagement, Affinity and Inclusion (OSAI)
The D'Amore-McKim Office of Student Engagement, Affinity and Inclusion (OSEAI)led by Heather Hauck, fosters a culture of belonging, where every student feels respected, valued and listened to. In recent years, these efforts have focused on undergraduates, including Building Belonging Fellows, Women in Finance, the PAC Mentorship Program, and now the Hajim Scholars Program — an initiative that supports first-generation, low-income students through access to career exploration and to the professional resources of the network that will help them to fully exploit their scientific potential. The team behind this work is part of the Dean's Office and will work to find ways to expand these efforts to all students at D'Amore-McKim.
Faculty/Staff Diversity, Inclusion and Inclusion Council
Almost a year ago, D'Amore-McKim leadership formed a Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Council made up of faculty and staff. The Council serves the school as advisors and champions on these matters relating to students, faculty and staff. Its primary goals and objectives include identifying strategies to enhance diversity, embedding it in our curriculum, sharing content to build awareness, and increasing accountability and transparency for our entire community.
Since its inception, the council has helped organize open and safe conversations around addressing issues of race and social inequality in curricula and classroom discussions, and have supported other educational opportunities around tolerance and inclusion in order to foster a culture of participation among faculty and staff.
A commitment to organizations that promote diversity
We have deepened our relationships with organizations that support the diversity of business students, among others The Posse Foundation, The National Association of Black MBAs (NBMBA), The Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPF), The Ph.D. Work, The Consortium Business Schooland The Forte Foundation in order to create talent pipelines at D'Amore-McKim that reflect ethnic and gender diversity.
